Real World recording artist Samuel Yirga represents Ethio-jazz at its finest. Recognized as a prodigy from the moment he chose his instrument, he has released two critically acclaimed solo works (Guzo and Hagere) as well as playing keyboards on two landmark albums by Dub Colossus (A Town Called Addis & Addis Through the Looking Glass).
His latest collaboration with Ethiopian-American singer/songwriter Meklit Hadero entitled “Kemekem“ (I Like Your Afro) was chosen by the BBC as one of the top 10 African tracks for 2015. Trained in classical piano, Sammy interprets traditional Ethiopian songs in a fresh and exciting manner.
